Chris Taylor began playing guitar at the ripe age of 13. One day, he noticed that his guitar needed some work, so he took it to a recommended shop for repair but was not satisfied with the results. He and his brother, Dave, found ways to fix their own instruments. When friends started asking for help with their stringed instruments, they realized that their circle of musician friends needed a professional Luthier. In order to hone their lutherie skills, both Chris and Dave attended a month-long program at Luthiers School of the Rockies in Boulder, CO. Under the tutelage of Harry Fleishman, Chris and Dave became certified Luthiers, learning the technical ways of building and repairing guitars. In their woodshop, equipped with jigs, tools, and machines, they have repaired hundreds of stringed instruments including guitars, basses, mandolins, banjos, harps, violins, and ukuleles. Not just luthiers, but real artists, the talented brothers of Emerald Bay Guitars and Ukuleles hand craft beautiful instruments from a variety of woods, with custom specifications available. The sound of their acoustic and electric instruments speak for themselves. Just pick one up to see for yourself!
